
Campbell R. Harvey is Partner, Senior Advisor, Director of Research and board member at Research Affiliates. Cam joined Research Affiliates in 2017.
In addition to his role at Research Affiliates, Cam is a professor of finance at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Cam has received numerous industry honors, including the Bernstein Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy Award for Best Article from the Journal of Portfolio Management in 2015, 2016, 2022, and 2023; nine Graham and Dodd Awards/Scrolls for excellence in research and financial writing; and the James R. Vertin Award from the CFA Institute Research Foundation. He was named #1 in LinkedIn Top Voices 2020: Finance & Economy and received the Quant of the Year Award 2020 by the Journal of Portfolio Management. Cam has published over 150 scholarly articles spanning investment finance, emerging markets, corporate finance, behavioral finance, financial econometrics, and computer science. He is a co-author of DeFi and the Future of Finance and serves as an Advisory Council Member of the Financial Analysts Journal.
Cam received his Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from Trinity College at the University of Toronto, his Master of Business Administration from York University in Toronto, and his PhD from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. His dissertation was the first to link yield curve inversions to economic recessions, an indicator that has been reliable in predicting the last seven recessions without a false signal to date.
