JOHN WEST, CFA
Director, Product Specialist

John West is responsible for external communication of the firm’s investment strategies and portfolio management processes. In this role, he actively participates in quantitative analysis, product development, and topical studies with the Research team. John also interfaces with selected affiliates in support of their marketing and sales activities. He also assists in marketing Research Affiliates’ products to the investment consultant and plan sponsor communities.

Previously, John was vice president research and senior consultant at Wurts & Associates, an institutional consultant on the West Coast. At Wurts, he managed the firm’s overall research effort including the development of capital market assumptions, new asset class opinions, alternative investments, effective portfolio processes, and spending policies. Much of his research was made available to interested parties in regularly published white papers. As chair of the Research Committee, he was also responsible for providing strategic guidance to the firm’s Manager Research Group. John also served as the practice leader in foundation and endowment consulting services.

John graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS degree in finance. He is a member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles. He is also a co-author of The Fundamental Index: A Better Way to Invest (Wiley 2008)and currently serves on the University of Arizona Investment Committee.
