Portfolio Manager
Full-time opportunity for a Portfolio Manager on the Investment Management team, which manages the firm’s commingled funds, separately managed accounts, and full discretionary sub-advisory portfolios. Duties include assisting the Director of Investment Management to manage and execute the following activities: securities lending, derivatives structuring and trading, collateral management, cash management, dividend recapturing program, equity trading, and trade execution analysis. The position reports to the Director of Investment Management.
Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have an analytical background and experience in one or more of the following areas: enhanced equities index management, collateral management, structure derivatives, securities lending, and trade execution analysis/modeling. This position requires superb quantitative skills for modeling financial problems. This person will analyze index management issues and recommend solutions for best execution, efficient dividend recapture, cost effective synthetic exposures, securities lending and cash collateral income, lower market price impact from cash flows. This person will work in a close knit team environment yet will need to excel with minimal supervision. Creative problem solving, teamwork, and a desire to learn new skills are a must.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Monitoring RA’s investment portfolios for risk and return
- Implement securities lending
- Implement collateral management
- Minimize slippage due to contribution/redemption flows
- Analyze transactions costs and create optimal trading heuristics
- Negotiate derivatives contracts for synthetic exposures
- Find creative solutions to improve implementation value-add
- Trading
Experience and Skills
- Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Business, Economics or Engineering. CFA, MBA or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Finance industry experience is a must.
- Expert Excel skills are a must.
- Ability to learn and use off the shelf financial software a must.
- SAS, Matlab, and other computing languages would be useful.
- Financial modeling experience a must.
- Ability to identify and research problems.
